Countess in Crimson Development Update #4

Hello everyone and let’s recap our current progress for Countess in Crimson.

We’ve finished most of the UI and underlying engine work (most of what’s left in that regard will be finished up when all actual content is coded into the game) and begun preparing the narrative content for the game (images, animations and coding dialogues).

Since Countess in Crimson is venturing more into visual novel territory than Cockwork Industries did and as such will feature a higher amount of images to tell the story, we decided we want to make those static images more appealing and breathe some life into them. After some experimentation, we’ve come up a way to create “motion images” that will serve that purpose and we’re quite happy how it turned out.

Here are 2 samples:

Of course fully animated sex scenes are also coming (no pun intended 😉). Here’s one:

Finally, a pre-emptive response to the obligatory “when will it release?” question – we still don’t know for sure. All I can say is that our development schedule is moving forward more or less as planned. We also recently received an unwelcome tax-related incentive to finish the game as quickly as possible so that should help speed things up a bit 🙂.

Im happy to hear some new CIC news. These are some nice images, especially the vampire or demon.I think with the new locations the freeroam setting would have been a better experience than more visual novel however.I cant wait to see the fully animated sex scenes without a quicktime event. When I hear the words finish the game as quickly as possible I start having cyberpunk flashbacks. So with that being said I would support you all on patreon or a fundraiser if you want to take that path.Because this game game can be something special if you can complete it on your terms.

It looks like what I wrote may be too open for interpretation, so let’s clarify:

      1. What I meant by the game “venturing more into visual novel territory” is that the game has VN elements (some parts of the game have a continuous, dialogue-based narrative flow). Having said that, 90% of the game is free roam. Heck, there’s even a world map where you can access different locations 😉.

      2. We’ll never rush the game and release it unfinished. All content that’s meant to be included in the base game was planned long ago and we wouldn’t cut anything to release the game sooner. If anything, we’d just put in more work hours to arrive at the same point slightly faster.
It’s unrealistic though to expect the game to be completely bug-free on release. No matter how much we test the game, we still need the wider community’s help to squash the bugs we couldn’t detect during closed testing.

      3. The don’t really need to raise more funds to make the game we want to make, just time really.

Im so happy to hear that.So we now we have a game about vampires, with a world map, fully animated sex scenes(no quick time events) made by the same team that made CI.My Hype level just went over 9000.Thank you and your team Astaroth .

The world map is there to make moving between a handful of locations easier for players. It doesn’t mean it’s now an open world game or anything like that. Please don’t overhype it too much 🙂. Also, these aren’t vampires, but succubi (demon chicks).

To clarify – the gameplay is still similar to CI. It’s an adventure game more than anything, but it’s much more story focused with more dialogue. Although much of it is optional, investing in the story will be rewarded.

Sounds good, as I liked the gameplay in CI. Can’t wait to see, where you’re taking us, your audience, now !
