Game Announcement: Countess in Crimson

Sorry it took that long, but we’re finally ready to announce what’s coming after Cockwork Industries!

We have two games currently in development – Countess in Crimson, which we’re announcing today and Forbidden Curiosities, which will be announced shortly. With these games we’re taking everything we learned from Cockwork Industries and improving on everything we got right while getting rid or changing things that most players disliked. Our aim is also to improve the overall visuals – better looking characters, smoother and more natural animations, more exciting environments. Although gameplay-wise the games are not yet fully fleshed out, they will also introduce new features and gameplay mechanics.

Countess in Crimson will be more or less in line with Cockwork Industries in terms of subject focus, while Forbidden Curiosities will be much more fetish-oriented and aimed towards the fans of Sodom Sluts-style content. In terms of aesthetics and subject preference Forbidden Curisities might not be be a game for everybody (although we encourage you to check out the game’s upcoming announcement and see for yourself – you might be surprised what kinks you’re really into 😉 ), but fans of futanari and heavy fetish will feel right at home. If you’re more of a fan of “vanilla” style erotica, Countess in Crimson will probably be more down your alley, which doesn’t mean it’ll lack spicy and fetish content 😉 .

Countess in Crimson

Countess in Crimson follows the story of Josh and Ashley – a young couple stranded somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains who eventually find themselves in a secluded village whose denizens live in the shadow of a menacing castle towering over the landscape, in which the mysterious Countess resides.

Unfortunately we don’t have any animations or gameplay to show you yet, so for now we’d like to introduce you to the game’s main characters – Josh (yes, this means the game will feature a white male protagonist 🙂 ), Ashley and the eponymous Countess.

Josh

Player Character and the protagonist of the story.

Ashley

Josh’s girlfriend.

The Countess

A mysterious resident of the grim castle overlooking the village and main antagonist.

Additional images to show the style and overall “feel” of the game:

That’s all we have for you today regarding Countess in Crimson. We’ll of course be posting updates as the game’s development progresses. Meanwhile, stay tuned for the upcoming Forbidden Curiosities announcement!

Will the sex scenes have better interactivity? really didn’t like the foreplay in Cockwork and the quicktime stuff was distracting a lot of the time. Also will the animations be more varied? Looking forward to seeing the improvements you’re making for the new games

We want to improve on the sex scenes for sure. There will be no foreplay sequences in Countess and if we decide to have minigames during sex scenes, they will be optional and much less distracting, the default option being hands-free/watch only.
By “more varied” do you mean sex positions or something else?

Loved Cockworks, and can’t wait for these two projects. As long as we have hot girls in hypersexualized outfits, I’m a happy camper.

will this be similar to the movie that was done (the name escapes me currently, Ciren? is that possible, prince and princess with the Vampire chick)? That film was well done and having a game in a similar style would be pretty awesome.

I thought it was funny how they said “Since this is important to many – yes, this game will feature a white male protagonist”. Like as if not the majority of the protagonist for most games in general aren’t already white. I loved that Cock works had a black male protagonist, there’re aren’t many out so finally having one in a game like this was great. I also sincerely hope he won’t be the first and last time you guys make a black protagonist. Anyway that aside thank you for making one.

This was probably the most asked about thing in Cockwork Industries, hence why we underlined it (jokingly) in the announcement for Countess in Crimson 🙂. This doesn’t mean, of course, we’ll only be making white male protagonists from now on in every game. Ultimately we make that choice based on which character fits the particular story best while also keeping player suggestions in mind.

Would there… be any… you know any… homosexual contents (male or female) in these game coming up? Whichever if they would contain or update after the games being released, cause the interaction with Diego in Cockwork Industries is so impressive … It’s fine if they wouldn’t have some… By the way the characters are really hot and the couples are adorable!

Lesbian scenes will of course be featured in our upcoming games as they are also generally desired by straight male audience, so there’s no downside in including those.

We don’t plan to have any male homosexual content for the time being. Although gay content in Cockwork Industries was well received overall, we feel like it deserves a more substantial approach, so that it doesn’t feel like it is only there as a “token”. Instead, we may make a full gay-oriented game in the future once we have enough time, manpower and possibly a gay writer who understands the subject well.

We also decided it’s a bit unfair to require players to buy the full game even if they are only interested in a single gay romance option available.

will the lesbian scene be optional? I personally prefer not to see if it can be help, I’m a straight male but I don’t find it appealing personally. Yes, I know super weird for me to say that but it is what it is. So will it be optional? To prevent, interrupt, avoid, or just stop it from happening. At the very least choice not to watch.

Any lesbian scenes will probably be optional, although I can’t confirm 100% right now.

There is not much to change. Cockwork was a perfect game. Your characters were almost alive. When I first played it, I was almost afraid that a game could have such a soul.
The only criticism is the fairly similar plastics of the characters. Small breasts would be welcome …. for example.
Otherwise, being able to name the backups would be a plus.
    Again, congratulations for Cockwork. Really.

The Vampyre Lady, I guess she was involved in boxing sports or maybe had a nose correction to hide her transsylvanic ancestry? Looks like. I thought a vampyre lady would have as a sharp nose as her teeth?
Was she really engaged in boxing and received some bloody vampyre infection in fight; and then she had to start living in a box, boxing herself in daylights? Questions…

I realize that this is the initial announcement, but is there a projected timeline for release and will these be available on Steam?

It’s too early to give any timeline, sorry. As for Steam – yes, we plan to be releasing all our games on Steam some time after the initial release on our own website.

Any customization possibilities to our character? Very happy you’ve got a while male in there, that’s awesome, but he does look a little feminine. 🙂 Would definitely prefer to make him look more masculine if at all possible. Thanks, will wishlist this on Steam when I see a store page for it, thank you.

No, customization is unfortunately not possible in a 2d game where characters are created and rendered beforehand, not it real-time.

I’m surprised to hear you think Josh looks feminine. Young, sure, as he’s supposed to be in his early 20s.

Update: I can kind of see now where you’re coming from. The eyelashes might be a bit too pronounced making it seem like he’s wearing a subtle eyeliner (although in the tavern scenes that’s mostly because of the lighting). That wasn’t intentional and we’ll probably make some adjustments for the actual in-game renders.

For my part, your characters are so “personal”, almost alive, that customizing them would be a disaster. Also do not change anything that made the soul of cockwork.
A little more varieties, for example small breasts …, that’s all.

I’m afraid not – with pre-rendered charcters it’s simply not possible.

Fantastic. Can’t wait. Hope there will be many exciting characters and romantic options. The thing I liked most about Cockwork Industries was actually exploring the relations between these characters and how your actions affected them. Good work, guys.
